Biography
For more than 30 years, Steve has worked with nonprofit and charitable organizations that are committed to furthering education and healthcare services for the community. He is passionate about mission-driven organizations and has provided general counsel services to several such organizations for many years. Steve also serves as exempt organization counsel during formation of new entities, when seeking recognition of their federal tax-exempt status, in tax-exempt bond financings, and in joint ventures or other similar significant transactions. Steve enjoys serving nonprofit boards of directors and working with them on governance issues that improve their effectiveness as a board and empower the executive teams to pursue their mission.
Prior to joining OMW in 2015, Steve owned and operated Burgon Law Office, P.C. for more than a decade following his years as a partner at Miller Nash, LLP in Seattle, Washington and at Reed McClure, PS, also in Seattle.
Steve is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the health law section of the American Bar Association, and the Washington State Society of Healthcare Attorneys.
Steve received his J.D. from the University of Washington and graduated with honors from the University of Utah, where he earned his degree in Business Management.
