Peggy’s practice focuses on employment litigation and counseling. She is a skilled legal writer and natural collaborator who excels at building sustainable interpersonal relationships.
Peggy has worked with a vast array of clients and stakeholders, including elected officials at all levels of government, labor unions, hourly workers, non-profit organizations, C-suite leadership, and dignitaries. Peggy’s innate curiosity fuels her to develop a deep understanding of her client’s unique business. She tailors her services and advice using this client-centered approached to advance her client’s goals.
Peggy regularly advises clients on wage and hour matters, leave, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and other employment compliance issues. She has supported multi-jurisdictional clients’ defense against class and collective wage and hour claims and single party discrimination charges. Peggy prepares licensing agreements to protect the interests of businesses and entrepreneurs, including software and copyright licensing.
Peggy brings to her employment litigation practice years of experience working for state departments of labor and handling administrative charges and claims. Peggy has appeared before the Office of Administrative Hearings in approximately one hundred unemployment insurance appeal hearings. As a Law Clerk with the Office of the Attorney General’s Labor and Industries Division (L&I), Peggy gained experience relating to the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act, workers’ compensation laws, and wage and hour laws. During her time at the New York State Department of Labor and the Governor’s Office, she advocated for labor and employment law related policies, such as Paid Family Leave and minimum wage increases. Peggy also coordinated with businesses, elected officials, and community stakeholders to effectuate sustainable economic development projects that fostered job creation.
Peggy fosters diversity and inclusion both within the firm and in her community and mentors aspiring attorneys from diverse backgrounds. She serves on the Region 16 board of the Hispanic National Bar Association. Peggy is passionate about promoting equity in our courts as Co-Chair of the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington’s Judicial Evaluation Committee (JEC), and she has served on JEC since 2018. During law school, Peggy served as Student Liaison for the Washington State Supreme Court’s Minority and Justice Commission.
Outside of the office, Peggy loves adventurous activities like sky-diving, crane-jumping, swimming in the ocean, ziplining, and recently has started mountain biking and street cycling.
