Jennifer has developed a knack for bringing parties together to work cooperatively and takes the hardline when necessary to protect her clients’ interests.
Jennifer is a member of OMW’s Environmental & Natural Resources and Tribal Government Practice Areas. Her environmental practice involves representing public and private entities in a wide range of matters concerning state and federal laws including CERCLA, Washington’s Model Toxics Control Act, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and SEPA/NEPA. She regularly teams with clients’ technical consultants on developing stormwater and air permits and defending clients in enforcement actions by EPA and state and local permitting authorities. Jennifer also has assisted clients with environmental insurance claims and environmental claims in bankruptcy.
Jennifer represents clients at cleanup sites under CERCLA, and state environmental cleanup laws, including contaminated sediment sites, landfills, and gas stations. She has extensive experience in site remediation, cost recovery litigation, cost allocation among responsible parties, and natural resource damages. In working on large, multi-party cleanup sites for too many years to count, Jennifer has developed a knack for bringing parties together to work cooperatively with regulators in order to move sites forward through the cleanup process and prevent expensive and time-consuming litigation. Yet, Jennifer takes the hardline when necessary to protect her clients’ interests.
In her Tribal practice, Jennifer assists Indian Tribes in developing tribal environmental program capacity and enforcement capabilities. She has worked with Tribes in the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest, and deeply values the relationships she has developed over the years working with Tribal environmental managers and other Tribal representatives. Jennifer also counsels entities that are doing business with Indian Tribes in navigating the unique opportunities and challenges of operating in Indian County, including renewable energy leasing.
