Biography
Re is a member of the Healthcare and Litigation Departments. Her practice focuses on insurance, healthcare and civil matters. Re has an approachable and open communication style that puts her clients at ease. She values connecting with her clients and cultivating that relationship to ensure she understands their legal issues and solving them with success. Re provides a wide range of legal services to members of the healthcare industry including regulatory, confidentiality and privacy-related compliance services including HIPA A and state laws, licensing and risk management related services, federal and state agency investigations. Re’s practice also includes legal advice and litigation relating to insurance coverage and bad faith for policyholders and the insurance industry including property and casualty, life, health and disability. For her insurance and self-insured clients, Re provides guidance and advice with respect to obligations under the Medicare Secondary Payer Act and Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act (MMSEA). At the end of the day, Re’s style and compassion for law and her clients is what makes her the success she is today.
With over 30 years of litigation experience representing all facets of the healthcare industry [providers, hospitals and health systems, health plans, pharmaceutical companies, and pharmacies], Re offers comprehensive support to her healthcare clients. Re has a deep understanding and knowledge of the operational workings, and the evolving issues and challenges the industry faces. Most recently, Re’s healthcare practice has focused on investigations, pre-litigation, and litigation with state and federal enforcement agencies related to regulatory and statutory compliance, including, for example, the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, HIPAA, state privacy and confidentiality laws, charity care, reproductive rights, licensing, credentialing, and privileging, as well as claims brought pursuant to the Consumer Protection Act. The matters Re handles range from advice giving to complex multi-party litigation.
Re was selected by Super Lawyers Magazine to be included in the 2005 Washington Rising Stars list and Washington Super Lawyers list for 2010–present. She has also been recognized by Seattle Met magazine as a “Top Lawyer” in Health Care and has been designated as one of the “Top Women Attorneys in Washington” for the past eleven years.
Re received her B.A. in Architecture and Urban Studies from Smith College and her J.D., with honors, from University of Connecticut School of Law.
